Overview
This privacy policy explains how ShipCalc handles information collected through the ShipCalc website (shipcalc.co.uk) and the ShipCalc Shopify app. We aim to keep this short, clear, and honest.
ShipCalc is built for Shopify merchants. We collect and process only the information needed to provide the shipping widget, support the app, protect the service, and show merchants their own quote activity.
Information collected through the website
When you submit the contact form on this website, we collect the details you provide, including your name, email address, company (optional), and message. We use these details to reply to your inquiry.
The website uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect the contact form from spam and abuse. Turnstile may process limited technical information needed for that purpose.
We use Resend to deliver contact form emails. Resend processes the email content needed to send the message.
Information collected from merchants
When a merchant installs ShipCalc, we may store app installation details such as the shop domain, Shopify shop identifier, access token, subscription status, selected app settings, appearance settings, analytics preferences, diagnostics activity, and support messages sent to us.
We may also create automated technical logs relating to merchant use of the app, such as request timestamps, error messages, webhook delivery status, and app performance information. These logs are used to operate, secure, debug, and improve ShipCalc.
Information collected through the ShipCalc app
When the ShipCalc widget is used on a merchant storefront, ShipCalc processes shopper-entered details needed to request a shipping quote. This typically includes the postcode or ZIP code, country selected by the shopper, the source of the widget, and the cart or product context needed to calculate available shipping rates.
ShipCalc records quote activity for analytics purposes shown to the merchant. This activity may include the destination postcode and country, the source of the quote (product page, cart page, or drawer), the methods returned, and any errors.
Marketing events sent by ShipCalc to a merchant’s existing analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel) do not include customer email, customer name, full address, or cart contents.
Information collected through Shopify APIs
ShipCalc uses Shopify APIs and Shopify app surfaces to provide the app. Depending on the merchant’s configuration, this may include reading information needed to calculate or display shipping rates, such as shop details, product or cart context, shipping zones, rates, and app-owned settings or metafields.
ShipCalc does not sell merchant or shopper personal data. We do not use shopper quote activity to build third-party advertising profiles.
How we use information
- To reply to inquiries sent through the contact form.
- To provide the ShipCalc app and improve its features.
- To show merchants their own quote analytics.
- To investigate errors and improve reliability.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
- To respond to Shopify privacy and compliance requests.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run ShipCalc, including Shopify (the platform we are built on), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (email delivery), and Cloudflare Turnstile (spam protection). These providers process limited information needed to provide their services.
Information may be processed in countries other than the country where the merchant or shopper is located. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards provided by our service providers.
Data retention
We keep contact inquiries only as long as reasonably needed for communication and business records. Quote analytics shown to merchants are retained while the merchant has an active ShipCalc install.
When a merchant uninstalls ShipCalc, we delete or anonymise app data that is no longer needed to provide the service, unless we are required to retain limited information for legal, billing, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Shopify privacy webhooks
Shopify may send ShipCalc mandatory privacy webhooks for customer data requests, customer data deletion requests, and shop data deletion requests. We use these requests to locate, provide, delete, or anonymise relevant data in accordance with Shopify requirements and applicable law.
Your rights
If you would like to access, correct, or delete information you have shared with us, please reach out using the contact form. Shoppers who would like to request deletion of data submitted through a merchant store should contact the merchant directly in the first instance.
